Wishart celebrates crofters and farmers with Lamb for St Andrew’s Day

Shetland MSP and Scottish Liberal Democrat Beatrice Wishart MSP has celebrated the hard work of crofters and farmers across Shetland and Scotland by taking part in a promotion of Scotch Lamb for St Andrew’s Day.

Making St Andrew’s Day synonymous with Lamb was cooked up in 2010 and backed by the Scottish Government, Quality Meat Scotland and National Farmers Union Scotland.

The campaign can be followed online though #LambforStAndrewsDay.

Ms Wishart said:

“I’ve had my lamb today and I’m not sheepish to say it. I’m also not woolly about my support for quality meat like Shetland lamb.

“We have excellent home-grown lamb in Shetland. That is a testament to the hard work of crofters and farmers in the isles.

“Eating locally-produced food can help us reduce food air-miles and cut carbon emissions. It is also a great way to support the crofting and farming community, and wider local economy.
