Wishart encourages Shetland students to apply for SAAS before deadline

Shetland MSP and Scottish Liberal Democrat Beatrice Wishart is encouraging new and continuing students to submit their online applications for fees, bursaries or loans from the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS) now.

Students do not need to wait for exam results or an unconditional offer to study before applying, as those details can be added later. It is important to apply now, before the deadline of 30 June 2022, to secure funding.

To ensure applications are progressed as quickly as possible, it is important to submit the correct documentation and required evidence.

Ms Wishart said:

“It’s important that new students are aware they do not need to wait for their exam results or university place to apply for student finance.

“Applying online now is the best way for new and continuing students in Shetland and across the country to ensure they have funding in place for the start of the academic year.”

SAAS Interim Chief Executive, Lauren McNamara, added:

“To make the application process easier, please make sure you have the necessary paperwork ready before you apply. A full list of what you might need in advance is on the SAAS website.”
