Commenting on the publication of Scottish Government guidance for re-opening adult day care services, Shetland’s MSP Beatrice Wishart said:
“The publication of this guidance is welcome, but is well overdue. It’s over a month since I first raised this with the First Minister, when families were already telling me they couldn’t cope.
“Since then I have been contacted by more local families, as well as by people on the Mainland who are also struggling with the lack of support available.
“As I have said before, these support services are not a luxury. Respite services still need more support, and the Scottish Government must do everything within their power to get them up and running as soon as is safely possible.”
