Shetland MSP Beatrice Wishart has today thanked the 250 people who have completed a survey which seeked to gain views of islanders on mental health provision in Shetland.
The survey was launched after the local MSP has highlighted that, despite best efforts of local staff, mental health services are under real strain which has been amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Commenting Ms Wishart said:
“I want say a huge thank you everyone in Shetland who has filled out my survey on mental health provision in Shetland. Improving mental health and enhancing support for hard-working staff in Shetland is one of my top priorities and your views play the central role in that.
“I have made several representations to the Scottish Government over the current provision and how it can be improved, while recognising the long-term impact of the pandemic. We have now seen the Scottish Government commit more funding after pressure from the Scottish Liberal Democrats to help tackle the mental health crisis.
“I would urge anyone who still wishes to contact me on this issue to please do so.”
The survey remains open and can be completed here.
