Wishart encourages young musicians to apply for grant funding

Young musicians are being invited to apply for small grants funding from youth music education charity the Eilidh MacLeod Memorial Trust.
The charity is keen to see applications from all genres and disciplines of music. Youth groups have until Friday 27 June 2025 to apply via the Eilidh’s Trust website.
Eilidh’s Trust was established in memory of Eilidh MacLeod, a 14-year-old from the Isle of Barra who was a victim of the 2017 Manchester Arena attack. In recognition of Eilidh’s love of music and ability as a piper in the local school pipe band, the Trust supports young musicians to pursue their love of music. Since its establishment, the Trust has made over 100 grants and in 2024, it supported over 2000 young musicians across Scotland.
Commenting, Beatrice Wishart MSP said:
“Eilidh’s Trust continues to honour Eilidh MacLeod’s legacy by supporting young people in their music education.
“Individuals and groups in Shetland who could benefit from funding are encouraged to apply.”
Youth music groups have until 11.59 on Friday 27 June to apply. All applications should be made via the Eilidh’s Trust website: https://eilidhstrust.org.uk/?page_id=62
About Eilidh’s Trust
The Eilidh MacLeod Memorial Trust was established in 2018 with two main ambitions:
- To establish, manage and maintain the permanent memorial to Eilidh which will be located on the Isle of Barra
- To enable other young people and children to continue Eilidh’s musical journey by providing support to advance their music education (primarily but not exclusively in rural areas)
